Sure we change our styles, our likes and dislikes but never have I been seeing such unusual stuff lately in our fashion world. Apart from current mishaps in fashion judgment [yes ok, I’ll speak for myself because some will just not agree with me!] I resurrected some old and current habits that really get on my nerves. Here are some fashion faux pas that resonate with me:
1. Ripped Tights: Gosh, I really do not see the purpose of this whatsoever! Call me old fashion but destroying a perfectly pair of leg wear to me is just sinful!
2. The “Fake Glasses”: We love nerds. Let’s face it, we do! The innocent studious "look" is such a big turn on for us girls (I won't disagee), but to me it seems a bit bizarre to invest into a pair of fake plastic glasses that for the most part, hold every other purpose in the world expect for impaired vision. The concept is just humorous to me.
3. The Baggy Beanie: Alright Alright, so I know people still like to rock this look but come on, i'm just over just seeing this look everywhere.
4. Wristband “Hairtie”: Whoever decided that wearing a hairtie as a jewelry component is seriously twisted! Ok, this may be less of a fashion faux pas than the rest, but I just gotta get it out there…doesn’t it bother anyone else?!
5. The Overly Teased Hair: There is no way this astronomical hair can possibly be natural. I accept the concept of people wanting to rid the flat "I need some volume in my hair" kind of look, but to the extent of giving youself a "permanent bedhead" kind of look seems just too over the top ridiculous!
I feel like such a cynic but I just had to get these thoughts out! Let me know what you think! As anyone else who blogs, I realize that I will come across others who disagree, but just to make it clear-I am in no way wanting to sound condescending or narcissistic. We are all entitled to our opinions, and I fully respect those who do make theirs apparent, regardless if I agree!
Thanks for reading!
Big hair is funny. Fullerton is full of empty-headed hair. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, these are great. I completely agree with these, although the hairtie one is more like an accident/convenience/laziness bit for me.
ReplyDeleteThe glasses one gets me. My husband and I have been wearing the same ugly thick frames for years and suddenly everyone thinks we are cool. Grrr.
agree with you bar 2 points. i love the look of ripped tights on girls, but yeah kind of a waste of money.
ReplyDeletei love the 'scene' look on girls but only up to a certain age. big layered hair on someone my age is just wrong...
Haha, I love this post! Gooooooo Connie! But I like ripped leggings though :P
ReplyDeleteHugs and kisses

i'm so over beanies too, they look good on some people though
ReplyDeleteand i've never liked harties.. my friends used to wear them all the time, their both hands were full of them..
it's good you shared it with us, i think everyone can say what they think about something, yet being nice like you did.
I really Enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I wish people would be original in their fashion and not copy everything that everybody else does...it gets rather boring.
ReplyDeleteI will say the girl with ripped leggings does earn points for wearing an Iron Maiden shirt!
ReplyDeletethe fakie glasses definitely get to me. but as a super long-haired girl - I always have a black hair elastic mixed in with my bangles. But I can't wear one all by its lonesome on my wrist.
ReplyDeleteI love beanie and glasses! Great choice! What a fantastic pieces!
ReplyDeletexoxo: Janet
LOL this is too funny! I hate ripped leggings, it is so distracting and wasteful to me. I am over seeing beanies hanging off people's heads as well. And I had no idea people wore hair ties around their wrists...that's quite interesting. Most people are carbon copies. Originality is a commodity today. Relish your uniqueness.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much with you here with the exception of certain baggy beanies:)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that hair ties on your wrist was something people do as a fashion statement. I do it for convenience. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I do go OCC! Crazy.
Haha, just too funny!
ReplyDeletesnort! i'm with you on ALL of these things!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo I kind of adore this post. Rofl. I agree with all of them - except the beanie thing. That one doesn't really bother me, except when people wear them in the spring (I mean, it's March, people).
ReplyDeleteAnd I have my hair tie on my wrist all the time, but I suppose it's more for convenience. I try to put it in my purse these days, but it's just so much easier to access when it's on my wrist.
lulz I'm tired of the scene hair as well, I wasn't aware people wore the hairties as jewelry?
ReplyDeletelol I'm very guilty of having one around my wrist all the time but only because I actually tie my hair up in class xD
this is hilarious! I definitely agree with you on some of these, although for me, it's more of a "I'm pretty sure I couldn't pull that off" thing...hehe.
ReplyDeletei lvoed this post, it was so interesting to hear some of your thoughts on these things! :-)
ReplyDelete<3e
ps: i tagged you! :-)
I love nerd glasses and I don't know why. I think ripped tights look raelly good when they are worn over another color.
ReplyDeleteoh dear..i am a failure! haha i don't do the ripped tights though..but hairties on the wrist is purely for convenience! haha ow.
ReplyDeletegood venting though! let it out!
thanks for your comment and your congrats.
xx love LM
Word word word! Tell it like it is, Connie. The first three things, i constantly see around the blogosphere. And all the commenters are like LOVE that BEANIE. Great BEANIE. Those TIGHTS! What a great idea to RIP them!
ReplyDeleteWTF? Just no.
Hahahah, Connie, if I only would start saying what I relaly think about all the trends (or rather fads) that I see roaming the blogs and around me in the cities I would piss off so many people and figuratively glass would shatter before their eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I completely agree with you on the beanies, ripped tights and glasses. Come on, these glasses were good fun for a while, but most of the peeps wearing them now just look like dicks, don't they.
I am way too old to do walking around with ripped tights (27 years old). I never understood seeing girls walk around like that. Weird enough, in NYC I haven't seen many beanies worn. As for teased hair, I grew up in the 80's so things associated with it (like teased hair) are not as appealing to me as people who didn't live through it. Great list.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you on the ripped tights and beanies and birdnest hairstyles. This was such a good post, made me laugh lots. x
ReplyDeletehaha okay. nice post. yes, the saggy beanie is old. and i feel like everyone who wears those now are wannabe hipsters/scene-sters.
ReplyDeleteand no, we did not get caught crashing the wedding. ha.
i totally love this.
ReplyDeleteand dont worry, i love it that you have an opinion :)
mxx
When I could actually put my hair in a ponytail, I was guilty of wearing a hairtie on my wrist. Out of convenience really. But you're right, I can't do the fake specs. So unnecessary!
ReplyDeletehehehe i loved reading this!!
ReplyDeletewhat a great post! :)
ReplyDeletetrends are trends for a reason. =P in time they will be out of style. but one thing i have always loved is teased hair. i love big sexy hair!
ReplyDeleteI really agree with you. Great post!
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment and interview wishes dearest! you all gave me such a confidence boost! so lovely.
ReplyDeleteand glad my occasional hair tie on wrist for non-fashion puropses is approved..haha
love LM x
Great post! Although in some places I don;t agree: I love ripped tights and it totally appeals to me;) and I think hairtie on a wrist is just handy sometimes..I don;t see it as a wristband;) With the rest I've got to agree;D
ReplyDeletei agree with the OVER TEASED hair lol and the ripped tights! sooo trasy (sometimes)...and miley..those boots are horrid!!
ReplyDeleteomg all of those things remind me of the teenyboppers at high school!!! rawr!!!
ReplyDeleteit's like "stop trying so hard"
Definitely agree, although I am hairtie as bracelet guilty. My long hair just has to go up sometimes and this is the most convenient way of storing the pesky things.
